MAD PROPS – 12/04/18

Short and sweet, but here are some reviews nonetheless!! SINGLES Sasha – Ouch! U.K. – Folk Pop Release Date: November 29, 2018 With an eerie organ sound starting this song, one wouldn’t expect this one to take such an infectious turn. Catchy is as catchy does and well, London singer-songwriter Sasha is damn catchy throughout Ouch!. It has Alice In Wonderland feels without feeling too overtly odd (because we all know how weird of a turn that can take sometimes). The chorus is something to marvel at, with your “arms wide open”, as her lyrics state. And while she sings … Continue reading MAD PROPS – 12/04/18

Charlotte Qvale – OSLO (Review)

It takes something intrinsically special within an artist to be able to make beauty out of the melancholy parts of life. And that’s exactly what Charlotte Qvale did on this single Oslo (gets cold this time of year). Born in Iceland but raised in Norway, Charlotte has been writing and composing music since the humble age of 7 years old. She has collaborated with fellow Norwegian artists Jonas Alaska and Marte Wulff and been a part of the trio known simply as VIGGO. Her latest single Oslo (gets cold this time of year) is a somber yet, beautiful representation of … Continue reading Charlotte Qvale – OSLO (Review)

MAD PROPS – 11/11/18

U.K./Singapore/France/Iran- Indie/Alternative Rock Release Date: November 9, 2018 Just what the doctor ordered – a hooky, piece of rockness, with unabashed, spewing vocals that can still hold a note. It’s a recipe for success, really. This 3-piece alt/indie rock band is proof that you can persevere and rise above circumstances that would otherwise make other artists or bands quit or find new members. A year or … Continue reading MAD PROPS – 11/11/18

“Bloodbeats” – Exclusive Review

Bloodbeats by Syndrom NORWAY  |  INDUSTRIAL/HEAVY ROCK Release date: September 28, 2018 If there is one thing you should know about this 4-piece heavy rock band from Oslo, it’s that they are not for the weak of heart. With a mixture of minimalist, industrialist and the experimental, Syndrom creates a sort of doom and gloom brand of rock that could be found on either a Rob Zombie movie soundtrack or an old 80’s campy slasher flick soundtrack. While the track listing only sits at a measly 6 songs, it is made up for by 3 of the 6 songs being … Continue reading “Bloodbeats” – Exclusive Review

Mad Props 8.20.18

Here is yet another dose of reviews for your liking. Don’t just take my word for it, go take a listen yourself and make up your own mind about these tunes!   ALBUMS Sannie Fox My Soul Got Stranger Released August 3, 2018 South Africa / U.K.  |  Blues Rock Just when I didn’t think Sannie’s music could get any better than Serpente Masjien, I am proven wrong… wonderfully wrong. From the onset of the first track – Criminal for Your Love – it was love at first listen. The album has impeccable blues riffs reminiscent of a starry, New … Continue reading Mad Props 8.20.18

Mad Props 6.27.18

Here is our latest batch of music reviews – from electronic to rock to rap! Go enjoy and listen to something NEW! SINGLES Dead Naked Hippies Guillotine Released June 20, 2018 U.K.  |  Grunge/Alternative Rock Probably one of my favorite songs from Dead Naked Hippies to date, Guillotine cuts straight through the bullshit and right to the reality of life, emotional baggage and all. It presents to the listener, in the most transparent of ways, the purgatory we face between revenge and just letting go when it comes to hurt and grief caused by others. And if you didn’t think … Continue reading Mad Props 6.27.18

Mad Props – 06.10.18

ALBUMS CHICKN WOWSERS! Released May 11, 2018 Greece  |  Psychedelia/Experimental If You Like: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, The Who, Small Faces, King Crimson Channeling the absurdity of Frank Zappa and combining it with the listenability of today’s Indie Psychedelic movement is Chickn. Their sophomore album is pretty dang solid in it’s 9 song’s worth of content. Upon first listen, I found it quite astounding that more people were not talking about this album or this band… the fact that they were for the most part, going unnoticed despite this glimmering example of old school … Continue reading Mad Props – 06.10.18

Meh or Yeh Music Reviews: 03.30

If you are new to reading my reviews, unfamiliar with what these reviews consist of and how I “rate”them, let me explain. I am not “out to get any artist or band” I am not here to tear anyone down, only to give my opinions on what my head, ears and heart hear and take in. I WILL NOT use star ratings or number systems to get my opinion across because well, I’d rather not. I’d rather just say yay or nay FOR ME and move on with my life. Lastly, don’t take my reviews as concrete facts about an … Continue reading Meh or Yeh Music Reviews: 03.30
