Chinese Government Issues Notice to Streaming Services According to digitalmusicnews.com, the Chinese government recently stepped in and wrote a “warning” to Chinese-based music streaming services, warning them against the usage of “exclusive content” and copyright, severely limiting the streaming market and stagnating certain companies. You see, what certain companies like Tencent and NetEase were doing was signing contracts with certain artists or their labels and then refusing to share the “copyrighted/exclusive” content with any other streaming services, thus limiting listeners severely.
