OPINION – Where Is The Love?

This is the first installment of our OPINION Column, a column of just that – OPINION. Nothing here is stated as fact, but rather based off of observations and deep, personal ponderings. Here goes nothin’! WHERE IS THE LOVE? Love is, hands down, one of the most written about subjects in songs past and present because, well, there’s nothing quite like it! Nothing like the first time you held hands, first time you went on a date, danced together, spent the night together, etc, etc. But – WHAT IS LOVE? And why does it concentrate the music industry so … Continue reading OPINION – Where Is The Love?

Foy Vance

At First Vance IRELAND | FOLK The first time I had ever heard the name “Foy Vance,” I turned to my friend at a Josh Groban concert and said, “That’s a funny way to say Vance Joy. Someone is getting fired.” And then this group of dapper men got on stage and the man who stepped up to the microphone was certainly not Vance Joy. “Closing my eyes for just a moment, I could imagine myself in Northern Ireland, sitting in a cozy pub on a rainy night with a pint of something delicious listening to soul-soothing music” “Who is … Continue reading Foy Vance

THIS JUST IN – Music News on Chinese Streaming, Bjork’s New single and More!

What exactly does it take to make a band magical? What makes music stand out above the rest as something unconventional? In Memoriam

Death. Such a short word for something so impacting. This was my Grandma – one of the most beautiful, tender and purest souls I have ever known. She was a few weeks away from her 87th birthday. I have gone 30 years without ever experiencing the death of a loved one. When my grandma passed away recently, it left me to try and find a way to process through my feelings, fumbling for words and thoughts and even prayers at moments. The power of music has been beyond helpful with the numbness, the hurt and the angry feelings; the full … Continue reading In Memoriam

Imelda May

April Showers Bring May Albums IRELAND | Blues/Soul/Rockabilly Small in stature, but with pipes larger than life, Imelda May is far from a musical newcomer, with well over a decade of musical experience, producing and songwriting. I was recently blown away by her latest album release thanks to my brother’s insistence that I listen to it immediately. Why was I blown away, you ask? Allow me to explain. You see, years ago, I had caught her performing live on Later… with Jool’s Holland and thought that her music was new and fun since it was rockabilly, a genre that is … Continue reading Imelda May
