RANK’D – Tegan and Sara

I have a confession to make: “My name is Abbey and I have been a massive Tegan and Sara fan since I was 18 (circa 2005)” Ok, so maybe it’s not a big and bad, super dark secret or anything and anyone who knows me personally knows this, but whatever. Like any real life love story where you fall hard, I remember it like it was yesterday when I first heard a song of their’s. Practically all the details, I kid you not. I first discovered Tegan and Sara while listening to Sirius Radio back in 2005. I had a … Continue reading RANK’D – Tegan and Sara

Trump Signs Music Law Into Act OK, so Sferikul is not a political site and it never will be. However, I thought this story was an interesting and relevant one, especially for songwriters. On Thursday, October 11, 2018 President Trump signed the Music Modernization Act into law after it passed through congress with flying colors. The best description I could find of what this law does for songwriters was found on Forbes here. Ross Golan is a multi-platinum songwriter who was, as Forbes calls him, the “de facto leader among songwriters”, and after reading the interview, I could see why. … Continue reading THIS JUST IN: Music News 10.15.2018

They put it simply via their Facebook/social … Continue reading Music News 09.05.18

Forgotten Worlds

Do you watch the Olympics like I do? Maybe you do, Maybe you don’t. As for me??? I LIVE FOR IT. And if I were to be completely honest, the whole sports thing isn’t even my favorite part. ITS THE PARADE OF NATIONS! I love watching the citizens of the globe proudly wave their flag around, wearing fun outfits that either show off their flag colors or something else entirely *ahem* TONGA *ahem*. And while I am in love with countries, continents, cultures, languages and the like, EVEN I FORGET ABOUT CERTAIN COUNTRIES. So I will give a few of … Continue reading Forgotten Worlds

Don’t just take my word for it, go take a listen yourself and make up your own mind about these tunes!   ALBUMS Sannie Fox My Soul Got Stranger Released August 3, 2018 South Africa / U.K.  |  Blues Rock Just when I didn’t think Sannie’s music could get any better than Serpente Masjien, I am proven wrong… wonderfully wrong. From the onset of the first track – Criminal for Your Love – it was love at first listen. The album has impeccable blues riffs reminiscent of a starry, New … Continue reading Mad Props 8.20.18

G Flip

Drumming Up A Dream Australia | Indie Pop This is quite the unconventional Cinderella story if I’ve ever heard of one. Once upon a time, there was a touring drummer who dreamt of more out of music for her life. She locked herself in her bedroom for a full year and away with her creative spirit she went! While she began creating and producing her own music, she recognized the need for a sidekick and companion. In no time, a living, blinking, moving drumkit named JEROMO was born! But that’s not where this story ends… that’s only just the beginning. … Continue reading G Flip

Mad Props 6.27.18

Here is our latest batch of music reviews – from electronic to rock to rap! Go enjoy and listen to something NEW! SINGLES Dead Naked Hippies Guillotine Released June 20, 2018 U.K.  |  Grunge/Alternative Rock Probably one of my favorite songs from Dead Naked Hippies to date, Guillotine cuts straight through the bullshit and right to the reality of life, emotional baggage and all. It presents to the listener, in the most transparent of ways, the purgatory we face between revenge and just letting go when it comes to hurt and grief caused by others. And if you didn’t think … Continue reading Mad Props 6.27.18
